Speaking of sustainability, it would be better if people were honest. It's time for a little libel.

The City of Austin accepts payoffs. The people who run the city have allowed the COTA and the soccer field, which were supposed to be the greatest thing since the invention of the taco. And this "boomtown" was supposed to be good.

That crap was built to attract billionaires who would spend their money. They money would go into the hands of everybody, supposedly; just as Milo Minderbender said in Catch-22, everybody gets a share. Right? No, the money goes to other rich people.

The billionaries did spend money. They bought real estate and made it impossible for an ordinary person to buy a house.
They drove local businesses out of business and installed chain restaurants and outlets for junk goods.

Now the City wants to make things "affordable". Can't do it, you have turned to the Dark Side. Now the city leaders have been paid off to do much the same thing with the "Dog's Head" property.

The attitude of the clowns that run Austin is, "We'll get rich, screw the people who live here." The people who live here vote for them because they call themselves "liberals". They don't call themselves crooks.

It's the weekend for Indigenous Peoples Day, formerly known as Columbus Day.

I approve of this. The Native Americans maintained a sustainable environment for more than 10,000 years, which is more than we European barbarians have done. I like to think they would approve of this.

You got the Cherokee Choctaw Apache and Kiowa
Mohican Navaho Apalachee and Chickasaw
Narragansett Biloxi Blackfeet and Clackama
Dakota Hopi Lakota and Cree you see
I been everywhere, man.

Next, new lyrics for the one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater.

I am still getting the hang of this. Of course, being lazy, I have automated these posts.

I have a script, called "blog" on my work computer. It copies what I have written to the webserver. Then I run another script on the webserver, also called "blog" (of course) that posts what I have written after a last chance to edit it.

I hope that the paragraphing is better this time.

The first blog post was inconsequential. In Texas, we generally move from drought to flooding and back again. We are used to it.
Now for something of a little more import. That is the word "amid", which has one job, and does it well. Amid is like "between" but you can only be between two things. Amid means being between many things.
For instance, a bear can be between two trees. If there are many trees around, you can say the bear is amid them.
Amid is being misused to mean "during" or "happening at the same time". Here is an example.
"At Ithaca Town Hall, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Denounces ‘Culture of Rape’ at Cornell Amid Chi Phi Lawsuit"

That is not what "amid" means. This is common these days in headlines, though. How can you be "amid" a lawsuit? I suppose that if you had many lawsuits filed against you, then figuratively you could be "amid" them. "Amid" has one job.
There are correct and concise ways to convey the meaning, such as At Ithaca Town Hall, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Denounces ‘Culture of Rape’ at Cornell As Chi Phi Lawsuit Continues" Something like that.
I read a lot of books. I have not yet seen a writer use "amid" this way. If I see it, I will throw all his books in the trash and tell him why. Please do likewise.

Do they predict a change in the weather here in Austin? They do. And the house cockroaches (Blatella germanica) are going
crazy, which is a sure sign of a change. Live in Austin for enough years, and you will learn that, at least.
